Ray H. Tanner, age 85, of Port William, Ohio, passed away Friday, August 28, 2020 at his home in Port William, OH.
He was born May 17, 1935 in Princeton, WV, son of the late Lonnie L Tanner Sr. and Virginia Marie (Tanner) Gamez.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. Following his service to his country, Ray worked as a technical engineer and mechanic, deputy sheriff and policeman in Port William and also owned a TV repair shop.
Surviving are daughter, Vera Scott, daughter, Rhea Jean (Clint Hackney) Tyree, son, Delbert Ray (Deneva) Tanner, nine grandchildren, Cristina A. Scott, Eric Tyree, Trent Vickers, William Vickers, Jason Vickers, Stephanie Vickers, Jacob Hackney, Cortney Hackney and Sierra Tanner. Also surviving are several great grandchildren and two sisters, Georgie "Barbara" Bailey and Nora Mae Neel-Toney.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Shelvie Jean Tanner, two brothers, Charles Tanner, Lonnie L. Tanner, Jr., two sisters, Iva Spinks, and infant sister Marie Tanner.
Graveside services will be held at New Maple Grove Cemetery, Port William, Ohio, Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Virgil Hawkins officiating.
