William Franklin Gillaugh,
Age 76, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of Wilmington. passed away at home, Sunday, May 3, 2015.
He was born May 15, 1938 at the Hale Hospital in Wilmington, Ohio, the only child of Conrad Sabin & Rubye Louise (Skimming) Gillaugh. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents- Frank & Nina (Sabin) Gillaugh & Will & Libby (Fisher) Skimming. Bill was educated at the Main Building School and Wilmington High School, graduating with the Class of 1956. He attended and graduated from Ohio State University with a BA and a BS in 1960 & 1961. He taught 3 years at Oak Hills High School in Hamilton County. Then, he was a 28 year employee of Delco Products and of General Motors in the Material Management Division. During his tenure at Delco, he worked at the Forrer Blvd Plant and enjoyed deployment to Spearman, Texas.
Bill was a life long member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Wilmington, 3 Masonic Lodges- including the F. & A.M. #52, Wilmington, Scottish Rite- Valley of Dayton, the Antioch Shrine, Dayton, the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, The Dayton Mercator Club, the Clinton County Historical Society and the St. Anne's Historical Society, where he was a charter member.
Bill enjoyed his family and took especial relish with his friends and neighbors. He took great interest in the study of history, saving and restoring several old houses in Wilmington and Dayton.
He wishes to thank his caretakers-Dusty Lamb, Phil Carnes, Larry Seindfield, Jane Fairfax, & Ruth & Harry Sloan.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM,, Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, 97 West Locust Street at North Mulberry St., Wilmington with Pastor Tom Stephenson officiating. Interment will follow in the Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington, Ohio.
Friends will be received from 6-8 PM, Wednesday, May 6 at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, Wilmington.
