Wanda "Vivian" Smyth
August 16, 1923 — January 31, 2014
Wanda V. Smyth of Corpus Christi, TX formerly of the Danville community, Highland County, OH passed into her Heavenly Kingdom January 31, 2014 at age 90. "Vivian", as she was known to family and friends, was born in Perry County, KY August 16, 1923 to Hezekiah and Mattie Sumner. She was one of eight children. At an early age she moved to Covington, KY to live with siblings and work in the WWII war effort. There she met and married Russell Smyth on February 21, 1945. In 1951 they purchased a farm in Highland County, OH where she and Russell made their home and raised their family. Vivian lived there for 57 years until moving to TX to live with her daughter in 2008.
She is predeceased by her husband, Russell Smyth (1996) and son, Irvin Smyth (1972) and two sisters and three brothers.
Vivian is survived by her daughter, Linda Ellis of Corpus Christi, TX; grandsons Tracy Ellis of San Diego, CA; Kelly (Barbara) Ellis and two great Grandchildren, Bradley and Bayleigh Ellis, of Corpus Christi, TX. Also surviving are her sisters, Jenny West Cox of Crawfordsville, IN and Lorraine Strochansky of Tavares, FL as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.
Vivian was a faithful servant of Our Lord and to her family, friends, and church community. She loved and was loved by all.
A memorial service will be held in her memory at Union Church of Christ in Highland County, OH on March 30, 2014 at 1:30 pm with Andrew Johnson officiating.
The graveside service will follow at Hamer Township Cemetery where she will join her beloved husband and son.
