Walter Christian Baur,
Age 80, of Wilmington, Ohio, passed away Sunday Night, September 13, 2015 at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.
He was born February 23, 1935 in Danbury, CT, son of the late Gerhardt Paul & Anna (Hliva) Baur. On May 22, 1965 in Glenview, IL, he married Carolyn J. Cokenour Baur, who survives.
Walter was a 30 year US Navy Veteran retiring as a Chief Yeoman. He had worked as a bookkeeper for International Harvester and Beam Tractor and Truck before becoming the Warranty Coordinator for Bush Auto Place in Wilmington for many years.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, and the Wilmington American Legion Post #49. He had been a member of the Wilmington Fraternal Order of the Eagles #1224. He loved his grandsons and attending their games, was an avid movie buff, loved his job and was a hard worker his entire life.
In addition to his wife, other surviving family members are his daughter- Andrea (Mark) Bush, Wilmington; 3 grandsons- Nicholas, Andrew, & Joseph Bush; 2 sisters- Carolyn Latasiewicz, Palatine, IL & Elaine Moore, Boerne, TX and numerous nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents, Walt was preceded in death by his brother- Gerald Baur & sister- Ann Marie Grandstrom.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM., Thursday, September 17 at the Faith Lutheran Church, 421 East Vine Street at Prairie Ave, Wilmington with Rev. June Fryman officiating. Interment will follow in the Clinton County Memory Gardens, Wilmington, where the Wilmington Legion Post #49 Memorial Squad and the US Navy Active Duty Honor Guard will perform full military rites.
Friends will be received from 12 Noon until the time of services, Thursday at the church. The Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, Wilmington, is serving the family.
