Virgil E. Thompson, age 81, of Sardinia, Ohio, passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 1, 2015 at the Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley Inpatient Center in Seaman, Ohio.
He was born May 27, 1933 in Adams County, OH, son of the late Elvis Vernon and Goldie (Smalley) Thompson.
Virgil was a member of Southern Ohio Draft Horse Association, Ohio Buckeye Draft Horse Association, Ohio Belgian Association, Mowrystown Church of Christ, and was an US Army Veteran. Also, he was a longtime farmer in the Winchester area, and had worked at Milk Marketing Inc of Sardina; Lafe Armstrong Milk Hauling in Winchester, Kibler Lumber Company in Mt. Orab, and was a sub-custodian at Eastern Middle School.
Surviving is his wife, Marlene Thompson, whom he married on November 5, 1955, daughter, Vikki Thompson of Sardinia, OH, sister, Elizabeth Russell of Mowrystown, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents,Virgil was preceded in death by four sisters, Lavora Windom, Delpha Neu, Geneva Fist, Allene Wardlow, and one brother, Olen Thompson.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Mowrystown Church of Christ, Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 6:00 pm with Pastors Chris Gobin and John Neu officiating. Following the celebration the Highland County Honor Guard will conduct Military Honors.
Friends will be received at the church on Saturday from 5:30 pm - 6:00 pm.
