Virgil L. "Pat" Patrick, age 89, of Wilmington, OH, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown, OH.
He was born November 26, 1922 in Lenox, KY, son of the late Earl Patrick and Hannah Elliott Patrick.
He was a member of Wilmington Church of Christ; Wilmington College Athletic Hall of Fame; U.S. Army Veteran of WWII; Wilmington American Legion; and had retired from Clinton Massie School System as a coach and teacher.
Survivors include his wife, Helsie Patrick whom he married October 11, 1969, 3 daughters, Suanne Cookman of Clarksville, Janie Morris of Clarksville, and Bonnie Tuff of Virginia; a step-son, Lyndell (Rae) Suggs of Wilmington, 11 grandchildren, Melissa Green, Becky Ward, Tracy Eaglin, Nikki Underwood, Erica Watters, Alexandria Tuff, Kyle Patrick Tuff, Debi Alsfelder, Kim Dixon, Lori Brown, and Randy Burson, 26 great grandchildren, and 9 great great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Hilma Patrick, three brothers, Earl Patrick Jr., Jackson Clarence "J.C." Patrick, and Ballard Patrick, and two sisters, Mary Parlin and Linda Bowen and a step-daughter-Eileen Taylor.
Services will be held at theWilmington Church of Christ, Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 11:00 am with Pastor Steve Wetterhan officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Burial Park near Portsmouth.
Friends will be received at the church Wednesday, January 18, 2012 9:00 am - 11:00 am.
