Vernon R. "Ernie" Knisley,
age 88, of Wilmington, OH, died February 3, 2013 at the Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington.
He was born August 25, 1924 in Latham, OH, son of the late Forrest Hamilton Knisley and Lena Mae Hankins Knisley.
Ernie worked for D P & L for 33 years and was a WWII U. S. Navy veteran.
He was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church and the American Legion Post #49.
Surviving are daughter, Linda Knisley of Wilmington, OH, daughter, Jean (Richard) Schmidt of Knoxville, TN, daughter, Tina Knisley of New Freedom, PA, six Grandchildren, Jennifer Ball, Jaqueline Furguson, Jandi Wilt, Patricia Schmidt, Joseph Schmidt & Mark Knisley. Also surviving are eight great-grandchildren, four sisters, Ruth Gillenwater of Dayton, OH, Evelyn Rice of Fairborn, OH, Margine Cotton of Manassas, VA, and Marion Knisley of Columbus, OH, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Vernon was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jean Gaul Knisley who died February 15, 2011, a daughter, Susan Marie Wilt, one brother Stanley Knisley and one sister Florine Durham.
Prayers will be said at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Michael Holloran officiating. Burial services at the convenience of the family will follow at a later date in the East Cemetery, Latham, Ohio.
Friends will be received Friday, February 8, 2013, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, Wilmington, OH .
