Terry Inlow,
age 73, of Greenfield, Ohio, passed away Monday night, December 23, 2024 at the Post Acute Medical Center in Miamisburg, Ohio after a short battle with Lymphoma.
He was a 2 time cancer survivor- when he was 15 years old, he had bone cancer with a tumor on his left knee. He was the third attempt and first survivor of a new surgery (summer of 1966-long before knee replacement surgeries) that saved his leg but removed 6" above his kneecap and 6" below his knee cap and replaced with a titanium rod. This left him in a body cast for 6 months but he fully recovered. In 2010, he was diagnosed with colon cancer. He fully recovered from that after a tough battle with chemo and radiation.
Terry was a 1969 Wilmington High School Graduate, a graduate of Alfred University in New York and received his MFA from the University of Cincinnati. Professor Inlow taught at Wilmington College for over 40 years in the Art Department including teaching at the Lebanon Correctional through Wilmington College's program there. He was a longtime adviser for Sigma Zeta and touched many lives during his tenure. He also touched many, many lives throughout his life as he never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. As one of his former students said "He had a great talent for seeing the potential of the ordinary." He also had a passion for the stage and performed in many plays while in high school and various summer theater productions at Wilmington. His final stage performance was in June of 2023 - Southern State CC in Hillsboro as the male lead in the play "Love Letters". In addition, he raised Ibizan Hounds for many years and more recently was raising Smooth Fox Terriers. He was born May 8, 1951 in Mariemont, Ohio, son of the late Everett Alton & Bonnie Louise (Kilburn) Inlow. Surviving are his sister- Brenda Inlow Slaughter, West Chester, OH; brother- Johnny W. (Sharon) Inlow of New Vienna, OH; nephew & nieces- Caleb Inlow, Christine (Robert) Inlow Wilson, & River Inlow; aunt- Mary (Kilburn) Reynolds; and many cousins & extended family.
A Celebration of Terry's life will be on his birthday, 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 8, 2025 at the McCoy Meeting Room, Kelly Center for Religious Life, Wilmington College, 107 College Street, Wilmington, Ohio. A Gathering of Terry's family and friends will be from 10:00 A.M. until his celebration service time on May 8. Private family interment will be in the Westboro Cemetery, Westboro, Ohio. The Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Contributions in Terry's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society,.
