Sheila Dawn Frey, age 59, of Wilmington Ohio, passed away Tuesday afternoon,
April 3, 2023 at her home in Franklin, Ohio.
She was born April 19, 1963, in Wilmington Ohio, daughter of the late Dean William Kenney and Carole Lee Kenney. On July 27, 1985, she was happily married to Douglas Frey Jr.
Sheila graduated from Clinton-Massie High School in 1981 and completed her teaching certificate at Wilmington College in 1985. As a life-long learner, she received a master degree in Humanities and a certificate for gifted education. After college, she started her career as an English teacher at Northeastern High School in Springfield, Ohio. She then left teaching to work at Electronic Data Systems in Dayton Ohio as a training specialist for 11 years. She ultimately returned to education, which included time at Clinton Massie Local, the School to Work Program, Assistant Professor of Communications at Wilmington College, Wilmington City Schools, and her current employer Beavercreek City Schools where she was a Gifted Intervention Specialist for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders at Trebein Elementary School.

Children: Drew (Stephanie) Frey, Monroe, OH and Shelby (Lance) Koetter, Monroe, OH, Grandchildren: Camden Frey, Everly Frey, and Sydney Koetter
Siblings: Laura (Karl) Baessler, Wilmington, OH, Karla (Scott) Bartholomew, Williamsport, OH, and Nick (Patty) Kenney, Overland Park, KS.
She is also blessed with many adored nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Sheila was preceded in death by her infant brother Jon Jay Kenney.
Sheila will be remembered by her positivity, resilience, and hard-working demeanor.
She had an infectious smile and laugh, and could always be counted on for her love, generosity, and endless support. Her family and close friends meant everything to her and she cherished every moment with them. She especially loved playing with her grandchildren, spending time outdoors, hiking, snorkeling in crystal-clear waters, cuddling her dog Daisy, cooking, watching sporting events, vacationing in Florida, and cruising the Caribbean.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 P.M. on Monday, April 10th at the First Christian Church, 120 Columbus St., Wilmington, OH 45177 with Pastor Connor L. Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the New Burlington Cemetery, Wilmington, OH. Friends will be received from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services on April 10th at the First Christian Church. After the interment at the cemetery, friends and family are invited to a carry-in meal and celebration of life at 3:00 p.m. the Clinton County Fairground Expo Center, 958 W Main St., Wilmington, OH.
