Sammie Howard

Sammie P. Howard,
Age 83, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday afternoon, February 21, 2016  surrounded by her loving family at the Kobacker House.

She was born July 23, 1932 in Cookeville, TN, daughter of the late Verdie Jay & Lela Bertha (Ford) Merritt.  On March 2, 1962, she married H. Denver Howard, who survives.
Sammie moved to Dayton at age 8 and to Columbus in 1964.  She retired from DCSC in 1988.

In addition to her husband, other surviving family members are her children- Bruce (Melissa) Doolin of Columbus, OH, Steve (Cathy) Howard of Huber Heights, OH,  Debbie (Dave) Macy of Reno, NV, , Timothy Jay Howard of Columbus, OH, & Danny Doolin of Delaware, OH; former daughters-in-law- Rebecca Howard & Sharon Edwards;  her grandchildren- Alicia, Eric, Jessica, Kristen, Randi, Taylor, Kayla, & Desi; 10 great-grandchildren; her dear sister-in-law- Judy Merritt and her family.  She has been blessed with a wonderful loving family.

In addition to her parents, Sammie was preceded in death by her brother- Verdie Jay Merritt, JR.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 P.M.,  Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at the Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, 97 West Locust Street at North Mulberry Street, Wilmington with Pastor Nancy McCormick officiating.  Interment will follow in the Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington, Ohio.

Friends will be received one hour prior to the services from 12 Noon till 1 PM  at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home.
