Richard "Dick" Zink, age 80, of Hillsboro, Ohio, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born September 4, 1937 in Hillsboro, OH, son of the late Leonard Wesley Zink and Velma Ethelyn Zink.
Dick was a Graduate of Hillsboro High School Class of 1955; worked at the Famous Department Store in Hillsboro, NCR in Dayton and at Hobart in Hillsboro. Dick and his wife Jo were the former owners of Hillsboro Cleaners. He was also a member of Highland Lodge #38 F&AM, Hillsboro Elks FOE # 361, Hillsboro Eagles Aerie #1161, and was a Kentucky Colonel. Over the years Dick coached Little League Baseball, Youth basketball, and was a part of the HHS Football Chain Crew for many years. A ardent supporter of the Democratic Party, Dick had been on the Hillsboro City Council for many years, was a past council president, and served two terms as Mayor of Hillsboro..
Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Joan Zink, whom he married August 3, 1957, son, Steve (Katy) Zink of Washington Court House and their children, Matt (Meg) Zink, their 2 children, Hayden and Savannah, and Brad (Chelsie) Zink who have a child on the way in November. Also surviving is a daughter, Andrea (John) Holt of Hillsboro, their children, Andrew (Alisha) Zink, their children, Paisley, Ryker, and Bodhi, Rob Holt, Jordan Anne (Seth) Phillips, their son, Holten; Alex Butler, Jessica Holt, and Johanna Holt.
Services will be held at the Hillsboro Church of Christ, 155 W. Walnut St., Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 3:00 pm with Pastors Tom Stoops and James Bush officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the church on Saturday from 12:00 pm noon to 3:00pm.
