Richard Payne

Richard Lee Payne,
age 88, of Wilmington, passed away Monday evening,  April 14, 2014.
He was born June 9, 1925 in Hamilton, Ohio, son of the late Harvey & Jeannete (McFarland) Payne. On January 17, 1953, he married Jeanette Mary Simon Payne, who passed away August 5, 2003.

A WW II US Navy Veteran, Mr. Payne retired from DP & L  as the Wilmington Area District Manager.  He was a member of the St. Columbkille Catholic Church, the Wilmington American Legion Post #49, and the Wilmington VFW Post #6710.

Surviving are his sons- Michael (Cindy) Payne, Wilmington,  Patrick (Pamela) Payne, Stanley, NC,  Stephen (Emily) Payne,Wilmington; Seven grandchildren; Five great-grandchildren; brother- Gene (Happy) Payne, New Bern, NC & sister- Marsha (Ted) Serrer, Huber Heights, OH.

In addition to his parents and wife, Richard was preceded in death by a brother- Jack Payne.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon, Thursday, April 17, at the Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, 97 West Locust Street at North Mulberry St. Wilmington.  Deacon Robert Baker officiating. Entombment will follow in the David's Cemetery, Kettering, Ohio.  The family would like to thank the Autumn Years Nursing Home & Community Care Hospice for the wonderful care that they provided during this time.
