Richard H. Klingensmith,
Age 99, of Wilmington, Ohio, passed away early Friday morning, September 30, 2022 at the Cape May Retirement Community in Wilmington.
He was born July 24, 1923 in New Castle, PA, son of the late Albert Henry & Myrtle (Remley) Klingensmith. On August 18, 1945 in Kentucky, he married Betty Marie (Balon) Klingensmith, who passed on March 12, 2002. They were married for 56 years.
Dick retired as a printing pressman after 40 years starting with McCall's then NCR, and finally Ohio Printing. After retirement, he drove the Wilmington City Cab for 10 years and also drove for the Showen Motors in Wilmington.
A WW II US Army Air Corps Veteran, he was a member of Presbyterian Church of Wilmington. He was also involved with the Wilmington Lodge #52 F.& A.M., Scottish Rite of Dayton, the Antioch Shriners, and Knights Templar No. 22. As the children were growing up, he and Betty were 4-H leaders in Clinton County.
Surviving are his daughters- Judith Ann (Ron) Zimmerman of Issaquah, WA, Nancy Jane (Mark) Molli of Fort Belvoir, VA, & Joni Marie Klingensmith of Alexandria, VA; son- Richard E (Michelle) Klingensmith of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; grandchildren- Stephen Kent Zimmerman of Bothell, WA, Matthew Joseph Molli of Washington, DC, & Jacqueline Marie Molli of Fort Belvoir, VA; and a great-grandson- Grady H. Zimmerman.
In addition to his parents and wife, Dick was preceded in death by his beloved daughter- Janet Sue Klingensmith; and 2 brothers and sisters-in-law- Jack (Marge) Klingensmith and Tom (Shirley) Klingensmith.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Presbyterian Church of Wilmington, 840 Timber Glen Drive, Wilmington with Pastor Stan Gockel officiating. Private interment will follow in the Wood Hill Cemetery, Franklin, Ohio., where the Franklin VFW will accord full military honors.
Friends will be received from 9:15 AM until 10 AM on Thursday, Oct. 6, at the church.
