Richard J. Hampton,
age 84, of Wilmington, Ohio, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Hospice of Dayton in Dayton, OH.
He was born July 18, 1927 in Wilmington, OH, son of the late Russell Hampton and Margaret Camp Hampton.
A WW II US Navy Veteran, he was a member of Wilmington American Legion Post #49,and was a Weigh Master for the Department of Transportation in the State of Ohio. He also had owned and operated Hampton Wrecker Service for many years.
Surviving are son- Gary (Jackie) Hampton of Clarksville, OH; daughters- Linda (Richard) Wilkin of Wilmington, OH, Vicky (Randy) DeBoard of Wilmington, OH; & Debbie (Doug) Little of Wilmington, OH, grandsons- Jason (April) Hampton, Simi Valley, CA, Keith Wilkin, Wilmington & Jerad (Natasha) DeBoard, Wilmington; granddaughters- Michele (Mike) Murtland, Wilmington, Kristal Clayfield, Cincinnati & Kimberly (Mike) Cook, Wilmington; 14 great-grandchildren; a1 great-great-grandchild; 4 sisters- Ann (Kenny) Diller, Pat (Clifford) Curtis, & Betty Moon, all of Wilmington; several nieces & nephews; and special friend- Phyllis Camp, Washington Court House.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Earley Hampton on November 1, 1999; 2 brothers- Russell Jr & Robert Hampton; 2 sisters- Mary Lindsey & Wilma Johnson.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM, Monday, November 21 at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, 97 West Locust Street at North Mulberry Street, Wilmington. Interment will follow in the New Antioch Cemetery, New Antioch, Ohio, where the Wilmington American Legion Post #49 Memorial Squad will accord full military honors.
Friends will be received from 12 Noon until 1:00 PM, Monday, November 21 at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, Wilmington, OH .
