Phil Jewell,
age 81, of Wilmington, Ohio, passed away, Sunday morning, October 25, 2015 at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.
He was born August 14, 1934 in Keyser, WV, son of the late Philip B.& Virginia Mae (Racey) Jewell.
Phil retired from the U.S. Navy and prior to that served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps. During his military career he received several medals and awards including the Korean Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with two Branze Stars, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces Meritorious Unit Citation (Gallantry Cross), and the Navy Good Conduct Medal with three Bronze Stars..
Surviving are a son- Eric Jewell; 2 grandsons- Austin (Holley) Jewell, Wilmington & Joshua Jewell, Xenia; 2 great-grandchildren- Zachary & Ealynn; 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
In addition to his parents, Philip was preceded in death by his son- Brian Jewell.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 28 at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, 97 West Locust Street at North Mulberry Street, Wilmington with Rev. James Wilder officiating. Interment will follow in the Clinton County Memory Gardens, Wilmington with the Wilmington American Legion Post #49 Memorial Squad according full military honors.
