Mervyn Wisecup

Mervyn V. Wisecup,
78, of Wilmington, Ohio, passed away, early Friday morning, May 13, 2016 at home after a brief cancer battle.

He was born September 25, 1937 in Wilmington, Ohio, son of the late Ernest Paul & Leona Mae (Lowman) Wisecup.  On July 13, 1996 in Wilmington, he married Catherine A. Roberts Dornbush Wisecup, who survives.

A 1955 Wilmington High School Graduate, Mervyn was a veteran from the US Navy, where he served on the submarines, serving in the Korean War & Vietnam War eras, retiring in 1974.
He was a member of: VFW Post #6710- Past Commander, American Legion Post #49 , where he is a life member having served as past 4th district commander, Amvets Post 61-Life Member and had served on the Clinton County Veterans Service Commission for 10 years.

In addition to his wife, other surviving family members are 3 daughters- Lorraine (Rick) Socia of TX,  Pamela Wisecup of San Diego, CA, & Leona Bundegard of San Diego, CA; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; step-daughter- Pamela (Mark) Chambers of Kettering, OH; 2 step-sons- Jerry (Annie) Dornbusch of Kettering, OH, & Rusty (Melissa) Dornbusch of Troy, OH; 1 step-grandson; 3 step-granddaughters; sister- Norma Stanforth of Wilmington; and many nieces & nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mervyn was preceded in death by his first wife- Kazuko Amamiya Wisecup; brothers- Chester, Charles, Bill, Myron, Bob, Paul, & Don Wisecup; &  sister- Wilma Simpson.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM, Tuesday, May 17, at the Wilmington American Legion Post #49, 140 East Locust Street, Wilmington with Pastor Stephen Wetterhan officiating.  The Family will receive friends from 5-8 PM, Monday, May 16, 2016 at the legion.
