Melvina Holaday

Melvina Rose Holaday (Bonnie),
age 84, of Wilmington, passed away, Wednesday, April 1st, 2015 at the Kettering Medical Center.

She was born July 25th, 1930 in Vevay, Indiana, daughter of the late Stafford A. & Helen (Weaver-McKee) Bennett.  On July 12th, 1953 in Richmond, IN, she married Charles R. Holaday, who survives her.  After graduation Bonnie began her life’s work as a Registered Nurse.  She loved her role in various hospital nurseries delivering and caring for new born babies.  Once she even delivered a beautiful baby boy, to grateful parents, in the back of a taxi cab.

She was a strong supporter of the Clinton County Freedom Riders 4-H Club and attended as many events as possible.  Bonnie and her husband designed, built and painted interesting and colorful horse jumps for the Equestrian events at the Clinton County Fair.  She spent her free time knitting and crocheting extremely beautiful baby layettes and Christmas ornaments.  She never missed an opportunity to knit a baby set for expectant mothers.

In addition to her husband, other surviving family members are her two daughters & son-in-laws, Helen & Richard Pratt of Mason, OH; Elizabeth & Thomas Mann of Wilmington, OH; and her grandson & his wife, Charles & Stephanie Pratt of Fairfield, OH.

In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her brother - Donald Bennett.

Memorial Services will be held at 6:00 PM, Thursday, April 16, 2015 at the Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, 97 West Locust Street at North Mulberry St., Wilmington.  Friends will be received from 5-6 PM, Thursday, April 16 before the Memorial Service.
