Leon Kafka, age 83, of Wilmington, OH, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at his residence in Wilmington.
He was born March 25, 1928 in Hajnowka, Poland, the son of the late Leopold Kawka and Helena Kozacz Kawka.
Leon retired from the Youngstown Sheet & Tube Company and was a talented carpenter. He lovingly built three homes for his wife and children and enjoyed working with wood. He will be sadly missed by his family.
Surviving are wife, Stella Kafka, son, Ricahrd (Denise) Kafka, daughter, Eva (Joe) Garchar, daughter, Ann Kafka, son, Leon (Mary) Kafka, nine grandchildren, Dana (Jason) Cooper, Megan Goldie, Kevin Kafka, Sara Garchar, Kaitlin (Tony) Ridner, Jenna Garchar, Jake Baun, Kate Baun, Willie Eades, four great-grandchildren, Kimber Cooper, Chloe Cooper, Gunner Goldie, and Raelynn Goldie, two sisters, Janina Racki, and Donata Azzi.
In addition to his parents, Leon was preceded in death by a sister, Kalina Juszkiewicz.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 10:30 am with Rev. James M. Wedig officiating. Interment will follow in the Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington, OH.
Friends will be received at the church Saturday, December 03, 2011 9:30 am - 10:30 am.
