Leland Jones

Leland Edwards Jones,
age 81, of Wilmington, Ohio,  passed away Friday morning, September 21, 2018 at the Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington.

He was born March 10, 1937  in Wilmington, son of the late George Washington & Margaret Marie (Morris) Jones.
A 1955 Simon Kenton High School Graduate, Leland was a US Navy Veteran after 23 years of service.  He was a Master Chief and very proud of his service to his country.  He then went to Airborne Express in Wilmington where he retired after over 20 years as an aircraft mechanic.  He loved to play golf and enjoyed planting his own vegetable garden.  He was a member of the VFW Post 6710, Wilmington.

Surviving are his children- Leland Jones, JR, Wilmington, Rockne (Laura) Jones, Jr, Lynchburg, Kenneth Jones, Wilmington & Donna (Tony) Berlin, Wilmington; grandchildren- Ben, Katie, David, & Jasmine Jones, Cody Haggard, Jordan (Samantha) Berlin, & Ryan (Meredith) Jones; great-grandchildren- Maddux & Lawson Berlin and Cooper Jones; brother- Franklin (Barb) Jones, Wilmington; sister- Anna Mae (Howard) Lunsford, Wilmington and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Leland was preceded in death by his wife- Mary Ellen (Powell) Jones, son- Christopher Jones & brothers- David & Ray Jones.

Private Graveside Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family in the Auburn Cemetery in Careytown, Ohio, where the US Navy Honor Guard will accord full military burial honors  The Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, Wilmington, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
