Lawrence F. "Larry" Sowders, age 91, of Highland County Ohio, passed away early Monday, November 20, 2023 at his home with his family by his bedside.
He was born November 15, 1932 in Cincinnati, Ohio, son of the late Luther M. and Loretta Flanigan Sowders.
Mr. Sowders was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean war and had retired from the Ford Motor Company. Larry enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman.
Surviving are eight children, Lawrence M. Sowders, Daniel (Dorothy) Sowders, Evelyn West, Alice (Derek) Watson, Janet (Bruce) Morris, Suzanne "Sam" Henson, Gloria (Glenn) Geck and Mark Sowders. Also left to mourn his passing are 38 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, honorary daughter, Susie Deatley, brothers and sisters-in-law, Betty & Jim Burk, Bobby & Kathy Benson, Carol Benson, Denny Feldmann, Bonnie Benson, Karen Benson and numerous nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Rose Benson Sowders who passed away March 10, 2023, his son-in-law, Mark Henson, two brothers, Jack & Charlie Sowders, and two sisters, Mary Lou Hartwig and Ruth Ann Hall.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Benignus Catholic Church, 204 S. 2nd St. Greenfield Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. with Fr. Mike Paraniuk officiating. Interment will follow in the Hightop Cemetery, Samantha, Ohio. Please join the family for a Celebration of Life at the Creekview Barn beginning at 2:00 p.m.
