Kenneth Leroy Beal, 87, of 254 Community Commons Drive, Wilmington, passed away suddenly on Thursday morning, Sept. 7, 2017 at home. He was born December 11, 1929 in Xenia, the son of the late Harold E. and Eva Mae (Bingaman) Beal.  On April 1, 1950, he married Rose Emma Knisley Beal, who survives.

After his service in the Korean War, he and his brother, Robert, managed the family farm in Port William for many years. He went on to work for OKT Colson in Wilmington and Mac Tools in Georgetown, Ohio. He was well respected for his knowledge in all aspects of maintenance and skills in woodworking.  Kenny was a former Wilmington City Councilman and 52-year member of the American Legion Post No. 49 where he was active on the Honor Memorial Squad.

In addition to his wife, other surviving family members are his son, Keith Beal of Cincinnati; his daughter, Jennifer (Dana) Dunn of Wilmington; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by his brother, Robert E. Beal, and his sister-in-law, Mary A. Beal, who was also Rose’s sister. A niece, Cheryl A. Roberts of Beaufort, SC, died earlier this year.

Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family. A celebration of life will take place at the American Legion Post No. 49 on Sunday, Sept. 24, from 2 to 4 pm with a brief Post Everlasting American Legion Memorial Service at 3 p.m.

Contributions in Kenny’s memory may be made to the Wilmington American Legion Memorial Squad Bus Fund.
