Kathryn“Kathy” Marie Bright, aged 73, died peacefullyat her home in the presence of her family on Friday, February 7th, 2014.
Born on August 24th, 1940, and raised in Hillsboro, Kathy graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1958 and married her husband of 54 years, Thomas Bright, on April 7, 1960.She was an active member of the Union Church of Christ where, for many years, she enjoyed playing piano and organ accompaniment for worship services. Kathy also worked many years for the Chambers Auction Company in Hillsboro.
Kathy was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing this hobby with friends and family, making sure everyone had as many bulbs as they would take. She enjoyed listening to classical music, local history,weeding flower beds, singing in church choirs, collecting antiques, and corresponding with her many friends and family throughout the area. Also, music was a very important part of her life and she truly enjoyed sharing it with others.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret “Margie” Ruble, and her sister Elizabeth. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Bright of Taylorsville, son David Bright of Taylorsville, daughter Kelly Stevens and grandson Adam Stevens of Milford, son Robert Bright and his wife Susan of Loveland, as well as her brother John Ruble and his wife Candy of Hillsboro.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Union Church of Christ with Andrew Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery, Taylorsville. Friends are invited to attend. The family asks, in lieu of flowers, donations be given to the American Cancer Society or, in the spirit of Kathy’s favorite pastime, friends plant flowers or a small tree this coming spring as a memorial.
