Katherine Ann Hackney Becker Luby, age 71, of Wilmington, Ohio, passed away Tuesday morning, October 4, 2016 in Wilmington, Ohio.
She was born May 1, 1945 in Wilmington, Ohio, daughter of the late Howard Smith Hackney and Flossie Lucille Morrow Hackney .
Katherine was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) for over 50 years, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints since 1976; and a honorary member of the Chester Friends Meeting. She graduated from Kingman High School in 1963, Sinclair Community College and received her Masters Degree in History and Psychology from University of Dayton. Katherine was active in the Buckeye Leather Craftsman's Gild and was a member of the Boy Scouts of America for over 30 years, receiving the Silver Beaver Award. She was an avid family historian and genealogist.
Surviving are 9 children, John (Kathy) Becker III, Kristen St. John, Jennifer (Paul) Dunn, Kevin E. Becker, Kimberly (Delwyn) Price, Cherrie (Bob) Alziebler, Elizabeth (Gary) Schow, Nathaniel (Heather) Luby, and Jayne (Jeremy) Luby, 31 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Katherine was preceded in death by two husbands, Charles Herbert Luby and John Franklin Becker Jr., two brothers, Albert and Roderick Hackney, and a son, Kenneth Howard Becker.
Services will be held at Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints, 2343 Wayne Road Wilmington, Friday, October 7, 2016 at 1:30 pm with Branch President Rees Watson officiating. Interment will follow in the Clinton County Memory Gardens, Wilmington, Ohio.
Friends will be received at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, 97 W. Locust St. Wilmington, OH Thursday, October 6, 2016, 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm & Friday, October 7, 2016, 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Community Care Hospice.
