Joycelyn  Martin, age 88, of Wilmington, Ohio, passed away Sunday February 20, 2022 in Wilmington, OH.

She was born April 23, 1933 in Wilmington, on Prairie Rd., in the house her grandfather built and her mother was living there while her father was a student at The Ohio State University. Her youngest son, Todd, and his wife now reside in this same home. Joycelyn's family moved to Delaware, Ohio in 1939. Her school years were spent in Delaware, where she met her future husband, Dexter Martin, and they graduated together from Delaware Willis High School in 1951 and were married in 1952. Dexter preceded her in death in 2010. After working in the Athletic Department at Ohio Wesleyan University, she along with their 15 month old twin sons, joined Dexter in Frankfurt AM, Germany, while he served there in the United States Army. They lived with a German family for more than two years. After returning to the United States, they moved to Wilmington. She was employed at Clinton County AFB from 1959 - 1967 before becoming secretary in the principal's office at Wilmington High School, where she worked for 25 years. ("Once a Hurricane, always a Hurricane"). In addition to her home in Wilmington, Joycelyn was a resident of SUGAR CREEK ESTATES, Mobile Home Community, in Bradenton, Florida, where she and Dexter had enjoyed their winters with so many dear friends, since 1992.

She was a member of the Wilmington United Methodist Church since moving to Wilmington from Delaware, Ohio in 1958. Present member of the Wilmington Lions Club and Associate Member of the Bradenton Lions Club. Past member of the Wilmington Brush & Pen Club.

Her greatest joys in life were time spent with Family and Friends, whether in person or through her constant companion - her computer. Ranking second, only to her family, would be her beloved BUCKEYES, BENGALS, REDS, and HURRICANES.

Surviving are three sons, Timothy (Tonya) Martin of Miamisburg, Tennyson (Nancy) Martin, Todd (Sandra) Martin both of Wilmington; 10 Grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; Landon (Amanda) Martin, Great Grandchildren, Kandyn & Kyleigh; Grandchild, Jordan (Tiffany) Martin, great-Grandchildren, Jackson & Mason; Grandchild, Justin (Emily) Martin, great-Grandchildren, Karter & Kalynn; Grandchild, Britton (Jennie) Martin, great-Grandchildren, Malia & Isabella; Grandchild, Brooke (Josh) Riesenbeck, great-Grandchildren, Landry, Layton, Laramie & Larsyn; Grandchild, Brynn (Keely) Martin, Great-Grandchildren, Reese, Etta & Briggs; Grandchild, Bryce (Maggie Hargis) Martin; Grandchild, Jennifer Kennessey, Great-Grandchild, Taylor (Austin Human) McClain, great great grandchildren, Sofia & Everleigh, Great-Grandchild, Jacob; Grandchild, Sarah (John Stanforth) Martin, great-Grandchildren, Joseph, Madison, John Henry, & James Wyatt; Grandchild, Joshua (Ashley) Martin, great-Grandchildren, Maylee,  Adeline, Ella, & a great granddaughter expecting. Other survivors include her 2 sisters, Marlene (Bill) Martin, Elaine (Wayne) Ellis, sister-in-law, Sue Martin Heston, and Joycelyn was an aunt to 32 devoted nieces & nephews.

In addition to her husband, Joycelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Evelyn (West) VanDerVoort and two brothers-in-law, Jerry George and Jerry Heston.

Services will be held at Wilmington United Methodist Church, Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 1:00 pm with Pastor R. Scott Miller officiating.  Interment will follow in the New Antioch Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the church Saturday, February 26, 2022, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.

The Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, Wilmington, is serving the family.
