Josephine Hibbs

November 20, 1931 — August 14, 2016

Josephine Mae (Cooper) Hibbs passed away Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016, at Cape May Retirement Village. Her husband, Homer David Hibbs, died Nov. 26, 2004. They were married Feb. 11, 1952.

She was born Nov. 20, 1931, in Adams Township, daughter of the late Carl and Elizabeth (Beard) Cooper.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Carla Jean Hibbs; two brothers, George Cooper and Harold Cooper; and six sisters, Betty Jean Cooper, Eva Moon, Thelma Sewell, Helen Pagett, Irene Cole and Mary Richardson.

She is survived by two sons, Michael (Patty) Hibbs and Jeffrey Hibbs; a daughter, Kimberly (Ronald) Vaughan; two granddaughters, Jennifer Knapke and Katie Vaughan; two great-granddaughters, Allison Knapke and Elizabeth Knapke; two sisters-in-law, Linda Watson and Pamela Watson; a brother-in-law, Jamie Watson; several nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren.

A 1951 graduate of Clarksville High School, she attended Cuba Friends Meeting and was a home care provider for adults throughout Clinton County. Her life’s focus was directed to her family. Before anything else, she was a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family. She also enjoyed the companionship provided by both her telephone and the television hosts of QVC, a place where she spent many more hours than dollars.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, 97 West Locust Street, Wilmington, The Rev. Dan Mayo officiating. Interment will follow in New Antioch Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home.
