John Raitz

October 28, 1945 — April 4, 2020

Goshen

John Cletus Raitz, 74, of Goshen, Ohio, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at  9:42 am on Saturday, April 4, 2020 in Cincinnati, Ohio. John was born on October 28, 1945 in Tiffin, Ohio.  He was a US Air Force veteran who proudly served from 1968-1972. John earned his Bachelor’s degree in Radio and Theater Production from The Ohio State University, and his Master’s degree in Theology from the Trinity Lutheran Theological Seminary in Columbus, Ohio.

John worked at Honeywell as a calibration technician and manager from 1974-1986. He then went on to operate his own calibration company, Raitz Services Inc., from 1986-2000, providing calibration of process and test instruments, electrical equipment, and pressure and temperature control gauges. In all he did professionally, his faith was always at the forefront of everything he did. He spent hours volunteering at Teen Challenge and was an Elder at Sozo Church in Loveland, OH. He was a devoted husband of 51 years, and deeply loved his family. John never knew a stranger and always was sharing Jesus’ love with anyone who would listen. John fought hard, especially the last 8 years of his life, to battle an abundance of health challenges. His generosity, passion, ingenuity and love for life will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.

John Raitz is survived by: his beloved wife of 51 years, Lynn (née Williams); his daughter Sherry Raitz-Caldarelli of West Chester; two sons, Kevin (Angela) of Mason, and Brent (Sharon) of Brunswick; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews; and by six sisters, Mary Jane (Jules) Frisch, Charlene (Michael) Ditslear and Nancy (Robert) Boes, all three of Tiffin, Ohio; Joyce (Louis) Wrasman of Kenton, Ohio; Kathy (Tom) Prezynski of Toledo and Janet (Mark) Dougherty of Geneva, Ohio.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Evelyn (née Kimmet) Raitz and his brother Paul J. Raitz, Jr (Marge).
