John M. Philp, age 88, of Wilmington, OH, passed away Friday, November 18, 2016 in Wilmington, OH.
He was born June 3, 1928 in Kelty, Scotland, son of the late Archibald C. Philp and Blanche Youels Philp.
He was a member of Wilmington Presbyterian Church; Wilmington Masonic Lodge # 52 F& AM, and Scottish Rite, Valley of Cincinnati. He was also a member of the Wilmington Elks Lodge # 797, Wilmington American Legion Post # 49 for 60 years, and was the past president and Melvin Jones Fellow of the Wilmington Lions Club. John retired from the Ohio State Highway Patrol after 32 years of dedicated service, where he was the Assistant Distrct Commander of the Wilmington District.
Surviving are wife, Nancy Anne Philp of Wilmington, OH, son, John R. (Deborah) Philp of Wilmington, OH, daughter, Holly (Kris) King of Cincinnati, OH, granddaughter, Kathren R. Philp of Wilmington, OH, sister, Joyce (Robert) Kendig of Canton, OH, cousin, June (Matt) Chionchio, cousin, Leslie Schworm, sister-in-law, Judith (Norman) Greene.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Presbyterian Church of Wilmington, 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2016 at with Rev. Deborah S. Linville officiating. Lion Club Memorial Services will be held at the conclusion of the Celebration of Life.
Friends will be received at the church on Saturday, 10:00 - 11:00.
