James Carl DeVoe,
Age 90, of Wilmington, Ohio, passed away Thursday evening, May 26, 2011 at Greenewood Manor Nursing Home in Xenia, OH.
He was born July 14, 1920 in Port William, Ohio, son of the late Charles & Beatress (Bone) DeVoe. On November 10, 1941, he married Betty Sherod DeVoe, who passed away on November 22, 1986.
A WWII US Army veteran, having served in Okinawa and the Phillippines where he received 2 bronze stars and a purple heart, Carl was a farmer and retired to Florida where he enjoyed the ocean, fishing and walking on the boardwalk
A loving husband and father, surviving are his 2 daughters- Cynthia DeVoe of Kettering, OH, & Connie (John) Benjamin of Louisville, KY; Son- Jim (Kelly) DeVoe, Indian Lake, Ohio; 5 Grandchildren; 4 Great-Grandchildren; 2 Brothers-Fred (Vivian) DeVoe, Sabina, & Gene (Mary) DeVoe, Lees Creek, Ohio; & Sister- Joan (Cy) Stephens, Wilmington.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister- Doris Williams and brother- Robert DeVoe.
Memorial Services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the Port William United Methodist Church, Main Street, Port William, Ohio with Rev. Rex Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Port William, OH.
A gathering of friends will be from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the church.
