Imogene D. Shaffer, age 87, passed away early Monday morning, October 1, 2018 at the Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley Inpatient Center in Seaman.
She was born September 23, 1931 in Ross County, Ohio, daughter of the late Lynn Leonard and Anna Elizabeth Thompson Daniels. On August 18, 1950 she married George L. Shaffer, who passed away on July 20, 2018. Imogene and George loved to travel, having visited many places all over the world.
Imogene was a member of Auburn First United Methodist Church and the Junior Mothers Club. She graduated from Western Latham High School and Wilmington College. Imogene was an elementary school teacher at Martinsville and later at Hillsboro where she started the kindergarten program.
Surviving are three daughters, Linda (James Daniels) Chamblin, Janice (Timothy) Hughes, and Leslie (Mark) Holmes, eight grandchildren, Robert Chamblin, Toni Lewis, Jessica Chamblin, Tim Martin, Evan Hughes, Adam Hughes, Ian Holmes, and Aidan Holmes, seven great-grandchildren, two brothers, Donald (Shirley) Daniels and John Daniels, and a sister, Cheryl Marks.
In addition to her parents and husband, Imogene was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Freda Daniels and a brother-in-law, Gary Marks.
Private graveside services for the family will be held at a later date.
Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, Hillsboro, is serving the family.
