Howard Carl Sharp,
age 85, of Wilmington, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Christmas Day, December 25, 2012 at his residence in Wilmington, Ohio.
He was born July 25, 1927 in Midland, Ohio, son of Winford Oscar & Nora Alice (Botts) Sharp. On June 11, 1960 in Parkersburg, WV, he married Frances L. Kesterson, who survives.
Howard had worked in management for the Massey-Ferguson Company in Ohio, Michigan, Illinois and West Virginia, had been the agriculture consultant for the Parkersburg National Bank and retired as the owner/operator of F-L Products, a wholesale distribution company, in Parkersburg, WV
A 1945 graduate of Jefferson Township High School and a 1953 graduate of Ohio State University, Howard served during the Korean War in the US Army from 1953 - 1955. He was a member of the Wilmington Presbyterian Church, the American Legion Post #179, Blanchester, OH, the Old Car Club of Wilmington, A Paul Harris Fellow with the Parkersburg, WV Rotary, Past Vice-President and Current Trustee of the Alpha Gamma Sigma Foundation at The Ohio State University. He loved old Cars and old tractors.
In addition to his wife, other surviving family members are his daughter- Lea Ann (Mark) Dick of Cincinnati, OH; grandsons- Gregory & Bradley Dick of Cincinnati, OH; 2 sisters-Mary (Robert) Brown of Wilmington, OH, & Thelma (Phillip) Pennewitt of New Antioch, OH; 2 brothers- Charles Sharp of Midland, OH, & Samuel (Ethel) Sharp of Martinsville, OH; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by 2 brothers- Stanley O. Sharp & Wayne E. Sharp.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday. December 29 at the Wilmington Presbyterian Church, 840 Timber Glen Drive, Wilmington, with Rev. Jeffrey J. Ott officiating. Interment will follow in the Martinsville Cemetery, Martinsville, Ohio. The Blanchester American Legion Post #179 Memorial Squad will accord full military honors.
Friends will be received from 4 - 7 PM, Friday, December 28 at the church.
