Helen Marie Knepper Schilling, age 93, of Wilmington, OH passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, September 2, 2017 at the Alois Alzheimer Center in Cincinnati, OH. The family is grateful for the loving care she received in her four years at the Center, and for the compassionate end-of-life care given by Hospice of Southwest Ohio. Helen’s positive outlook made her gentle, kind, and simply a beautiful human being. She found gratitude daily and experienced joy regardless of circumstances. She was an inspiring role model.Helen was born December 17, 1923 in Dayton, OH, daughter of Francis (Frank) Bernard & Margaret Helen Doyle Knepper. She served in the Navy at Camp Lejeune during World War Two. After the war she graduated from the University of Dayton. She married Wilmington attorney George Lewis Schilling, Jr. November 26, 1953. George died February 19, 2009. A wife and mother, Helen also worked as a Registered Dietician. She moved to Wilmington in 1951 whenClinton Memorial Hospital was brand new to serve as the first dietician. Later she was dietician for Head Start and the Clinton County Health Department. She was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church, volunteered hundreds of community-service hours, and enjoyed retirement in the Cape May community. Even in her final days Helen enriched those around her with laughter, wisdom, and a firm belief God works out everything. Surviving are her sons Doyle (Linda) Schilling of Granville, OH, & Brian (Ines) Schilling of Cincinnati, OH; daughter Ann (David) Wasser of Baltimore, MD; grandsons Christopher (Lindsay) Schilling of Granville, OH, & Evan Wasser of Baltimore, MD; great-grandsons Bennett, Bradley, Zachary & Zane Schilling of Granville, OH; niece Rebecca Miars of Cincinnati, OH; nephew Mark (Rita) Miars of Wilmington, OH.Prayers will be said at 11:40 AM, Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, 97 West Locust Street at North Mulberry Street, Wilmington, OH, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 PM noon at the St. Columbkille Catholic Church, 79 North Mulberry Street, Wilmington with Rev. Michael Holloran officiating. Interment will follow in Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington. Friends will be received from 10:30 AM until the time of prayers at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home.
