Helen Jane Swonger Kirchmeier,
age 83, of Wilmington, Ohio, passed away Thursday afternoon, February 26, 2015 at the Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington after bravely battling several prolonged illnesses since late October. She was born October 26, 1931 in Belfast, Ohio daughter of the late Alonzo "Lon" Swonger and Wilma (Roberds) Swonger, sister of Ronald & Howard Swonger.
Helen was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She married Alfred H. Kirchmeier on Tuesday, September 1, 1953 and had two children, a son- Jeff Kirchmeier, of New York City, & a daughter- Georgiana (Kirchmeier) Conard, who passed away in November of last year.
Helen worked various jobs throughout her life, raised a family, and cared for her ailing husband from when he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis until he passed away in 1978. Her jobs included working at the Wee Welcome Childcare Center for several years. For the most recent decades, Helen devoted much of her life to being a loving grandmother, while she lived with her daughter Georgie, her son-in-law, Brocke Conard, and their two children Katie & Suzie Conard. In addition to caring for her family, she loved life and enjoyed playing games, taking drives in the country, visiting friends, eating ice cream, laughing, and watching new & old movies.
She is survived by her brother- Ronald Swonger of Hillsboro, Ohio, her son- Jeff Kirchmeier, her granddaughters- Katie & Suzie Conard, Wilmington, son-in-law- Brocke Conard, Wilmington, many nieces & nephews, and a devoted little dog and three cats. Other survivors include loving relatives and friends who will also miss her wit and her laughter.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at the Wilmington United Methodist Church, where Helen was a member, 50 East Locust Street at North Walnut Street, Wilmington with Rev. Dean Feldmeyer officiating. Helen will find her final resting place at the Prospect Cemetery, Hillsboro, Ohio, next to her husband and near her parents at the conclusion of her funeral.
Friends will be received from 5-7:30 PM, Monday, March 2 at the church. The Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
