Harry  Joffrey Carruthers,
age  97, formerly of Wilmington, Ohio and more recently a resident of Eutawville, South Carolina passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 6:15 PM at the Magnolia Assisted Care Facility in Santee, South Carolina.
He was born  January 14, 1918 in , Chicago, Illinois son of  the late Walter & Ella May (Gold) Carruthers.   On April 18, 1957, he married Katherine "Kay" Lehman Carruthers, who passed away December 4, 1995.
Harry  was always an active enthusiast in the farming career field but got his start at the Morris Bean Foundry in Yellow Springs, OH.  He left the foundry in 1962 and moved to a farm in Sardinia, Ohio to fulfill his dream of being a dedicated farmer.  He retired after being a very successful farmer in 1982 and moved to Wilmington, where he was a member of the Wilmington Church of Christ and an active participant in the Clinton County Senior Citizens program as an active pool & euchre player.  He left Wilmington in 2013 to spend his remaining years with his daughter and son-in-law, Carol & Ron Rudmann, at their home in Eutawville, SC.  While there, he was a member of the Holly Hill United Methodist Church and took a serious interest in the Habitat for Humanity Program.  He moved from the there to the Assisted Living Facility in Santee, SC in the summer of 2014.
In addition to his daughter, other surviving family members are his other daughter- Judy Marie (Robert) Dunn; step-daughter-Anne Johnston; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife,  Harry  was preceded in death by his brother- Walter Carruthers and sister- Ella Joy.
Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Clinton County Memory Gardens, Center Road, Wilmington with Pastor Mike Carosiello, of the Wilmington Assembly of God, officiating.  Immediately following the service, family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate Harry's memory at the Max & Erma's Restaurant at the Robert's Center in Wilmington.  It is a pay as you go with a 20% gratuity.
