Obituary:

Harry (Chick) Brown, age 95 of Wilmington, Ohio passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Wilmington Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Wilmington, Ohio. He was born September 26, 1915 in Wilmington, Ohio to the late Herman & Almeda (Conner) Brown. He married Ellen McCarren Brown, who preceded him in death. In addition to his parents and wife, Harry was preceded in death by a daughter- Carolyn Richardson on April 19, 2010; son- Terry Brown on December 26, 2010; grandson- Sean Brown; sister- Winoma Moore; and a brother- Carl Brown. Survivors include four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister- Helen Eakins, Waynesville, Lucy McCarren, Harveysburg, & Dorothy McCarren, Harveysburg. Chick retired after 40 years of service at the Irwin Auger Bit Company as a trip hammer operator and foreman. He was a volunteer coach at the Clinton-Massie Schools for over 20 years, where the High School Track is named the Harry Chick Brown Track. The male athlete of the meet award at the Clinton-Massie Kickoff Classic track and field meet is named after Brown. A graduate of Kingman High School, he is in the Clinton County Sports Hall of Fame, the Clinton-Massie Sports Hall of Fame, had won many awards in the National Horseshoe Association and had participated as a competitor in the Senior Olympics. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, May 9, 2011 at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, 97 West Locust Street at North Mulberry Street, Wilmington. Rev. Perry Cromer officiating. Interment will follow at the Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington. The family will receive friends from 5 PM until 7PM Sunday at the funeral home. Contributions in Chick's memory maybe given to the Clinton-Massie High School Athletic Association, 2556 Lebanon Road, Clarksville, Ohio 45113.
