Harriett Myrtle Hampton,
age 89, of Wilmington, Ohio passed away Friday afternoon, May 3, 2013 at the Wilmington Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wilmington, Ohio.
She was born May 6, 1923 in Mintonville, OH, daughter of the late James Marion & Nora May (Gephart) DeBord. On July 13, 1945 she married Orville "Art" Hampton, who passed away in 1971.
Mrs. Hampton had been a homemaker and had worked for a few years at the Clinton County Children's Home. She was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints, the Wilmington V.F.W. #6710 Aux., and the Wilmington American Legion Post #49 Aux.
Surviving are 6 daughters- Barbara May (Paul) Popson, Midland, Carrie Louise (Gordan) Brewer of MO, Candy Lynne (Richard) Burger of CO, Susan Ann (Jack) Hamilton of CO, Cindy Lou Baker of Wilmington, OH, and Janet Lee (John) Taylor of Wilmington, OH; 30 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hampton was preceded in death by her son- Orville "Bud" Hampton and a daughter- Ruth Backus.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, 97 West Locust Street at North Mulberry Street, Wilmington, with Bishop Frank Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow in the Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington.
Friends will be received from 5-8 PM, Monday, May 6 at the funeral home.
