H. Eugene "Gene" Shiveley, age 55, of Wilmington, OH, who had severe health issues since June of this year, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2011 in Columbus, OH.
He was born November 10, 1955 in Wilmington, OH, eldest son of Howard F. and Betty (Loumenhouser) Shiveley. He lived his early years in Port William, Ohio and later moved to Southeastern Ohio where his Father served in the Ministry.
He graduated in 1974 from Meigs Southern High School. He was a deputy sheriff in Vinton County for 4 years then moved to Columbus and worked in Mental Health Facilities as a social worker. In later years he lived in Wilmington and was employed by Apex Custodial Services.
Gene was a member of the Port William Dam City Days committee and had lived in the Wilmington area for the past 6 years.
He is survived by his wife, Judy, his father, Howard (Virginia) Shiveley of Wilmington, OH, two daughters, Carolyn (Mike) Woolever, Helen Robbins both of Columbus, 6 Grandchildren, Zach Marcello, Erin Marcello, Brandon Woolever, Alex Woolever, D.J. Robbins, Haley Robbins, 3 Brothers, Bill (Jennie) Shiveley of Wilmington, John Shiveley of Wilmington, Jim (Patsy) Shiveley of Zaleski, a neice, Jennifer (Tony) Sturgell of Londonderry, and aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Howard was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Shiveley, grandparents, Edgar and Louise Shiveley, Lon and Myrtle Loumenhouser, and a grandson, Jacob Robbins.
Services will be held at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home 97 W. Locust St. Wilmington, OH 45177,, Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Josh Dixon officiating. Interment will follow in the New Maple Grove Cemetery, Port William, OH.
