Georgia M. Chaney, age 84, of Wilmington, OH, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Cape May Retirement Village in Wilmington.
She was born July 27, 1927 in Highland County, OH, daughter of the late LaVerne McConnaughey and Margaret Redkey McConnaughey.
Georgia was a member of the Wilmington United Methodist Church, the Order of Eastern Star, Brush and Pen, English Club, The Clinton County Ladies Oriental Shrine, Wilmington Lions Lady Auxiliary, and the CMH Auxiliary. She had also volunteered countless hours at Clinton Memorial Hospital, Hospice of Dayton and Community Care Hospice.
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Chaney Paige, son and daughter-in-law, David Christian and Julie Chaney, four grandchildren, Margaret Chaney, Kathryn Chaney, Stephanie Chaney, and Alyssa Paige. Also surviving is a sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Lou Bitar, sister-in-law, Gladys Wessels, brother-in-law, John "Jack" N. Chaney, nieces, Suzanne (Pat) O'Hara, Leslie (Jim) Koller, and nephew, Stephen (Jormarie) Bitar. Other family members include great nieces and nephews, Evan Koller, Katelyn O'Hara, and Patrick O'Hara, & Tyler Bitar, and many beloved cousins including Maxine Cramton and Jim Cramton.
In addition to her parents, Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, David H. Chaney.
Memorial services will be held at Wilmington United Methodist Church, Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 2:30 pm. followed by a reception at 4:00 p.m. in the Community Room at Cape May Retirement Village.
