Frances Kesterson Sharp,

 age 84, of Wilmington, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2025, at Clinton Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. 

Devoted wife of the late Howard Carl Sharp, Frances is survived by her beloved daughter Lea Ann (Mark) Dick; grandsons Greg (Sarah) Dick and Bradley Dick; and great-grandson David Dick. She is also survived by her five sisters, two brothers, and numerous nieces and nephews. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Alma (Wharton) Kesterson.

 Born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, Frances led a full and meaningful life devoted to the service of others. An active member of her community, she volunteered her time to many causes and organizations. Frances had a passion for history and genealogy, spending countless hours assisting families in tracing their ancestry. She served as an officer and trustee of the Genealogical Society of the Clinton County History Center, a regent of the George Clinton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of the Indian Trails Chapter of the Colonial Dames. 

Frances proudly contributed to the Wilmington community as a board member of the Health Alliance of Clinton County. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, English Club, and the Clinton County Women’s Club. She previously served as a judge for 4-H projects at the Clinton County Fair.

In recognition of her outstanding service to the local community, Frances was honored with the Outstanding Women of Clinton County award in April 2022. 

Frances was a graduate of Parkersburg High School and Glenville State College. After college, she worked as a teacher in West Virginia before relocating with her husband to Ohio, Michigan, and Illinois. Frances was a talented artist, receiving numerous awards for her colored pencil drawings. Her craft skills extended beyond artwork; she spent much time crocheting caps for newborns at the local hospital. 

Frances’ love for her family, friends, and community will be remembered by all who knew her. Her legacy of service and her caring spirit will live on in the hearts of her loved ones.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, 97 West Locust Street at North Mulberry Street, Wilmington. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Wilmington Presbyterian Church (840 Timber Glen Drive). Interment will follow at the Martinsville Cemetery.   Memorial contributions in Frances’ honor may be made to the Clinton County History Center, 149 East Locust Street, Wilmington, OH 45177.
