Evelyn West VanDerVoort, age 101, of Wilmington, OH, died Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, OH.
She was born April 8, 1913 in Wilmington, OH, daughter of the late Earl J. West and Eva Henry West.
She was a member of the Olive Branch United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and the Wilmington Garden Club. She had founded the volunteers program at Clinton Memorial Hospital and was the director from 1961 - 1979. In 2013 Evelyn received the Outstanding Women of Clinton County Award. She had also attended the Little Brown Jug harness race in Delaware, Ohio for 61 years. She was a 4-H advisor in Delaware County for 17 years and was an avid euchre player. She and her husband enjoyed wintering in Florida for many years. She resided at the Cape May Retirement Village and enjoyed her friendship with so many people and the many activities there.
Surviving are three daughters, Joycelyn Martin of Wilmington, Marlene (Bill) Martin of Washington Court House, Elaine (Wayne) Ellis of Wilmington, eight grandchildren, Timothy (Tonya) Martin, Tennyson (Nancy) Martin, Todd (Sandra) Martin, Kimberlee (Mark) Bonnell, Scott (Janet) Martin, Jennifer (Jerry) Mount, Anthony (Stephanie) George, Krista George, 22 great grandchildren, and 21 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, John Paul VanDerVoort, who died August 25, 1990, sister, June Walraven, brother, Henry West, and two sons-in-law, Dexter Martin, and Jerry George.
Services will be held at the Olive Branch United Methodist Church, 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2014 with Pastor Ann Myers officiating. Interment will follow in the Springfield Friends Cemetery.
