Eloise A. Jamison,
Age 94, of Wilmington, Ohio, formerly of Orangeburg, South Carolina, passed away Monday morning, May 16, 2011 at The Hospice of Dayton in Franklin, Ohio. On October 31, 1936, she married Laurie Johnson, who preceded her in death on October 29, 2008.
Mrs. Jamison was born July 3, 1916 in Orangeburg, SC, daughter of the late Charlie & Sarah (Ellis) Archie. She graduated from high school and later from cosmetology school and had owned her own business.
She and her family moved to Philadelphia, PA in 1951, where she worked in the hat industry. After retiring, she and her husband returned to Orangeburg where she delivered Meals on Wheels for several years. She was a longtime member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, where she was very active in many aspects which included President of the Methodist Women, Communion Steward, Senior Choir, to name a few until her health failed.
Surviving are daughter, Sarah L. Mitchell of Wilmington, Ohio; Three Grandchildren- Michael C. (Angela) Mitchell, Bowie, MD, Angela D. Mitchell-Koster, of Wilmington, & Kenneth A. (Lauri) Mitchell of Apple Valley, MN; Four Great-Grandchildren-Vania Wooten, Bowie, MD, Brittany (Sammy) Groves, Jacksonville, NC, Jordan Mitchell & Evan Mitchell, both of Alpple Valley, MN; Two Great-Great-Grandchildren- Kara Groves & Nikolas Wooten; Goddaughter- Louise Williams, Burton, SC; Special Nieces- Mattie DegraftenReed & Denise Matthews; many, many special friends to numerous to list; and several other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Jamison was preceded in death by her brother- Willie Archie; 2 infant sisters- Gladys & Jeanette Archie & son-in-law- Webster Mitchell Jr.
Funeral Services will be held 12 Noon, Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, 1401 Birch Drive-Hwy 301 N, Orangeburg, SC with the Rev. Frank James officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, Orangeburg, SC.
Family and friends may call at the home of Mrs. Mattie Degraftenreed, Mrs. Jamison's niece, 2622 Old Cameron Road, NE, Orangeburg, SC 29115.
Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, WIlmington was entrusted with the local arrangements with the Bethea Funeral, 2267 Russell Street, NE, Orangeburg, SC was in charge of the arrangements in South Carolina.
