Earl Maher

Earl W. Maher, age 85, of Wilmington, Ohio, passed away Friday, August 27, 2021at his home surrounded by his family in Wilmington, OH.

He was born November 2, 1935 in St. Martin, OH, son of the late John Daniel Maher and Mary Cresenthia Cordy Maher.

A U.S. Navy veteran, Earl was a member and past Commander of the Wilmington American Legion Post #49. He was proud to be a founding member of the Post #49 Honor Guard of which he was a member for 30 years. Earl was also a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church and had retired from Cincinnati Milicron.

Surviving is his wife, Norma Maher whom he married November 28, 1959, daughter, Theresa Hensley, four sons, John (Joanne) Maher, Robert Maher, Adam Rosenwirth and Branson Rosenwirth. Also surviving are two Grandchildren, Jeremy Rosenwirth and Amber (Brad) Courson as well as seven great-Grandchildren, Cainen, Braiden, Destiny, Justice, Madi, Ryker and Axel. Other family members include his sisters, Roseann Cordrey, Marge Rankin, brother, Whitey Maher, several nieces & nephews and his beloved dogs, Mira and Abbie.

In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by a grandson, Justin Rosenwirth, two sisters, Ellen Walker and Kate Pfeffer, and three brothers, John Maher, Donald Maher and Ray Maher.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 10:30 am with Rev. Michael Holloran officiating.  Interment will follow in the Sugar Grove Cemetery where the Wilmington American Legion Post #49 Honor Guard will conduct full military honors.

Friends will be received at the Wilmington American Legion Post #49, 140 E. Locust St. Wilmington, Ohio Wednesday, September 1, 2021, 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
