Dorothy M. Hoover, 88, of Wilmington, passed September 25th, 2011 at Hospice of Dayton with her family by her side. Her parents, Elmer and Anna Ockerman, sister Vera McFadden and three brothers Rudolph, Forest and Denzel Ockerman preceded her in death.
She is survived by her loving family, daughters Patricia (Charles) Lewis, Anita (Roger) Frost, Diana (Jim) Spruance, and son Roger (Kwang) Hoover; seven grandchildren Chris (Amy) Lewis, Colleen (Ken) Smith, Kelli (Ric) Woosley, Jason (Lisa) Spruance, Michael Frost, Philip and Caroline Hoover; ten great grandchildren, Jessica Lewis, Megan and Gregory Smith, Chaz Compton, Kodi and Gage Woosley, Shayna and Ryan Frost, Marie and Lynae Spruance and several nieces and nephews.
She was a dedicated employee of Servomation-Shanahan Company for a number of years before volunteering for 25 years as a Head Start grandmother where she received the President's Volunteer Service Award. She found great joy in caring for her children, as well as providing love and guidance to her grandchildren, great grandchildren and children in the Head Start program. She always welcomed people to her home with a warm delicious meal and a smile. She was fun loving, spirited and also enjoyed a good joke, game of bingo and trip to the casino. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Please join us Saturday, October 1st, 11:00 am-2:00pm, for a Celebration of Life gathering, with light hors d'oeuvres, at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, 97 W Locust St., Wilmington. Following the celebration a grave side service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the Hillsboro Cemetery, State Route 138 SW, Hillsboro.
