Clara B. Porter, age 93, of Hillsboro, Ohio, passed away Sunday afternoon, July 17, 2016 at the Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley Inpatient Center in Seaman, OH.
She was born January 6, 1923 in Aurora, Indiana, daughter of the late Louis E. and Bessie J. Skidmore Schroeder.
Clara was a member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ and the Railway Business Women's Association. She worked at Railway Express as an accountant in Cincinnati. Clara also volunteered at the Highland District Hospital Gift Shop for 20 years accumulating 14,000 hours of service.
Surviving are two brothers, J. Fredrick (Georgia) Schroeder of Gahanna and Robert (Sandra) Schroeder of Hillsboro, a brother-in-law, Denver Conley of Hillsboro, a sister-in-law, Dorothy Schroeder of Sugartree Ridge, several nieces and nephews, stepsons, Russell Porter of Missouri, Warren (Pat) Porter of Florida, Jerry (Janice) Porter of Ohio, and Chuck Porter of New Hampshire, and many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd H. Porter, brother, Donald Schroeder, sister, Jane Conley, nephew, Steven Schroeder, and two step-daughters, Norma Allen and Lois Montlick.
Private Graveside Services will be held at the convenience of the family with John Porter officiating.
The Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home is serving the family.
