Charles Louis Hunt,
age 83, of Wilmington, OH, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at the Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, Ohio.
He was born August 8, 1930 in Wilmington, son of the late Charles O. & Mildred (Schuer)Hunt.
His career centered around education and helping children meet their full goals. He got his B.S. in education from Wilmington College and his M.E. from Miami University. Charles started teaching at 19.5 at Main School in Wilmington with Alice Mills as the Principal. By 1963, he had just been appointed the first principal of Holmes Elementary School, Wilmington. During a summer recess, he learned that NCR-Dayton was needing computer instructors for their rising business in the computer field. His fancy was struck by this as early as 1954. During another summer recess, he had worked at the Wright-PAtterson Air Base on that "oh so new machine", a computer which its potential had never left his curiosity. He spent the rest of his working years learning and teaching the joy of this wonder of our time. For this he received many rewards from companies across the U.S. He was the longest member of Presbyterian Church of Wilmington. In his personal home life, time was spent traveling with his family, even in his retirement years. Charles had also been an 4-H advisor and was involved with his son's boy scouting activities.
Surviving is his wife of 58 years- Ann Hunt of Wilmington, OH; two sons- Chuck Hunt of Columbus, and Christopher Hunt of Cincinnati- two Grandchildren- Hayden Hunt, and Meghan Hunt; one Great-Grandson- John Birt; a sister- Mary Lou (Jim) Hunt of Wilmington; 2 nieces; 2 nephews; and 11 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Services will be held at Presbyterian Church of Wilmington, June 28, 2014 at 12:00 pm with Rev. Jeffrey J. Ott officiating. Private interment will follow in the Sugar Grove Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the church on Saturday, 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at noon.
