Charles L. Chaney
age 90, of Wilmington passed peacefully on April 4, 2015, at the Dayton VA Hospice Center in Dayton.
He was born on April 12, 1924 to Cuthbert and Catherine Chaney in Lynchburg.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria, and one brother, Harold.
He is survived by his daughters, Maribeth (Jeff) Bevis, Cathy Reed, and Carren (Joe) Yuppa; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He served with the 84th Battalion of the Navy Seabees in the Pacific during WWII. He was a member of the Wilmington American Legion Post #49. He was also a member of St Columbkille Catholic Church and enjoyed the home visits made by the ministers to the sick.
He had donated his remains to Wright State Medical School and his cremains have now been returned to his family. Therefore his Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 10:30 AM at the St. Columbkille Catholic Church, 73 North Mulberry Street, Wilmingotn with Fr. Michael Holleran officiating. The burial will follow in the Springfield Friends Cemetery, Wilmington. The Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, Wilmington is assisting the family.
