Cedric Lewis Surber, Son of Earl and Ganelle Roberts Surber was born on January 26, 1923 and passed away April 22 2013 at the age of 90. On October 17, 1942 he was married to the now departed Mary Ruth Newhouse for 56 years. To this union was born 3 sons, Jerald of Cincinnati, Terry of Dayton, and David of Indianapolis. On August 9, 1936 he joined the Union Church of Christ and was a follower, an Elder, and church leader his entire life
Cedric always had a great laugh and a smile for everyone and lived as our Lord Jesus taught. Cedric loved to work with the youth of the community and church and was involved in many young lives as a mentor and role model. He was a founder and an official of the Highland County Fair for decades. He was also a dedicated 4H leader for over 40 years.
Cedric spent his entire life on the Surber Family Farm where he partnered with his now departed brother Maynard in the dairy business and agriculture. He loved the land and cared for it throughout his entire life here in this community.
Departing he leaves his 3 sons, Jearld (Martha), Terry, and David. One grandson, Lance, 2 grand step children Michael Weber and Christine Scheadler(Bob) of Cincinnati, two nephews, Jim(Carla) of Greenville and John(Connie) of Sabina. One brother, Maynard preceded him in death in 2012.
Services will be 11 a.m. (Saturday ) at the Union Church of Christ with pastor Andrew Johnson officiating. Visitation will be (Saturday April 27th) at the church starting at 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Union Church of Christ, 3021 N. Taylorsville Road, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133.
