Carole Lee Kenney, age 82, of Wilmington, Ohio, passed away late Wednesday night, December 21, 2022, at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.
She was born November 25, 1940, in Wilmington, Ohio, daughter of the late Albert and Lola Eva (Irvin) Marshall. On November 29, 1958, she married Dean William Kenney, who passed on April 8, 2020. They were married for 61 years.
A 1958 Wilmington High School Graduate, Carole retired as an administrative assistant for Wilmington College after over 30 years of service. She was a member of First Christian Church - Disciples of Christ, Wilmington, OH.
Surviving are her children: Laura (Karl) Baessler, Wilmington, OH; Sheila (Doug) Frey, Franklin, OH; Karla (Scott) Bartholomew, Williamsport, OH; and Nick (Patty) Kenney, Overland Park, KS. She was blessed with 13 surviving grandchildren: Joshua Baessler, Miranda (Jay Jackson) McCollister, Megan Baessler, Drew (Stephanie) Frey, Shelby (Lance) Koetter, Wade (Diana) Bartholomew, Brooke (Jason) Jenkins, Raegan (Nick) Bush, Ashton (Sean) Weber, Paige Kenney, Colin Kenney, Nathan Kenney, and Madison Kenney. In addition to 14 dear great-grandchildren, she is survived by her brother Irvin (Sue) Marshall, Wilmington, OH; her sister Barbara Howard, Lexington, KY; and many adored nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Carole was preceded in death by her infant son Jon Jay Kenney, granddaughter Ashley Marie Bartholomew, and sister Diane Marshall.
Carole was known for her generous nature, infectious laugh, beautiful singing, and excellent cooking. Anyone who visited her kitchen left with a full stomach or a care package of delicious food. Family was Carole’s number one priority and pride and joy. Besides spending time with her beloved family and friends, Carol enjoyed reading, playing cards, watching sporting events, traveling (especially cruising), and spending winters in her home in North Port, FL.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, at the Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, 97 West Locust Street at North Mulberry Street, Wilmington, with Pastor Connor L. Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the New Burlington Cemetery, Wilmington, Ohio. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m.until the time of services on Thursday, December 29 at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home. After the interment at the cemetery, friends and family are invited to a carry-in meal at McCoy’s Banquet Center, 1130 Gurneyville Rd., Wilmington (OH), 45177.
