Carl H. Schultz, age 87, of Wilmington, OH, died July 24, 2014 at his home in Wilmington, OH.
He was born January 10, 1927 in Liscomb, IA, son of the late Gustav Schultz and Selma Roseberger Schultz. At age 3 moved to Park Rapids, Minnesota and was raised on a farm. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1945 to 1947 in Okinawa,Japan, Kadina Air Base. After he got out of the service he went to Willmar, Minnesota to work. While in Minnesota he moved to five different towns, managing for the same grocery chain and later on worked as a District Manager. In 1968 moved to Xenia, Ohio to work for Super Valu Inc. as a General Field Manager. He was co-owner of two Bob & Carl's Finer Foods in Wilmington, Ohio and one in Hillsboro. Carl spent his adult life in the food business.
He was a long time member of Faith Lutheran Church and also the American Legion Post #186 of Lebanon, Ohio.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Lois M. Schultz, two sons, Timothy (Lee Ann) Schultz of Loveland, OH, Joel (Janet) Schultz of Wilmington, OH, four grandsons, Karl (Laura) Schultz of Lucasville, Kris (Laura) Schultz of Fairfield, Josh (Erica) Fawley of Mississippi, Caleb Fawley of Wilmington, and one granddaughter, Amber Schultz of Madisonville, TN. Also surviving are six Great-Grandchildren, Travis Schultz, Ashley Schultz, Zoey Schultz, Kaylor Schultz, Nolan Schultz,and Miller Schultz, as well as many nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by a son, Larry Schultz, two brothers and two sisters.
Private services will be held at the Faith Lutheran Church with Rev. Doug Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in the Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington, OH where the Wilmington American Legion Memorial Squad will conduct full military honors.
