Carl Lee Payne, age 68, of Peebles, Ohio, passed away Monday morning, December 27, 2021 at his home after battling with cancer.
He was born February 18, 1953 in Dayton, Ohio, son of William Lee Payne and Beulah Payne Morris.
Carl was a United States Air Force Veteran having served during the Vietnam War, where he was an air cargo freight specialist. He was a former deacon at Joy Fellowship Church. Carl worked for Boeing, Eagle Creek Stone Quarry and then Martin Marietta Stone Quarry as a heavy off road truck driver for many years. He was a kind, gentle, loving, and strong man that would do anything for you.
Surviving are his wife, Marcia Langlois Payne, whom he married on June 7, 2003, 4 children, Jennifer (Paul) Edmisten of Peebles, Erik (Jillian) Payne of Myrtle Beach, SC, Rebekah (Bill) Nichols of Galivants Ferry, SC, and Sondra (Wes) Chappel of Collidge, GA, mother, Beulah Payne Morris, 3 siblings, James William Herbert Payne of Zephyrhills, FL, Alma (Todd) Matthews of Troy, OH, and Karen (Gary) Miller of Piqua, OH. Marcia brought three children into their marriage, Kellie Frances Langlois of Lady's Island, SC, Tyler Martin (Abigail) Hochfelder of Fayetteville, OH, Kathy Anne Stoltzfus of Gwinnett, GA. Also surviving are, 20 grandchildren, mother of his children, Susan Oeder Mack and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close family friends.
Carl was preceded in death by his father, William Payne, grandson, Alexander Cole Edmisten, step-father, Paul Morris, and a brother, Gary Morris.
Funeral Services will be held at Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, 138 E. Main St. Hillsboro, Friday, December 31, 2022 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Mike Parks officiating. Interment will follow in the Louisville Cemetery in Adams County where the Adams County Honor Guard will accord full military honors.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.
