Bonnie Lou Griffin Zeigler, 93, of Wilmington OH passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 10, 2013 at Quaker Heights Care Community in Waynesville OH. Bonnie was predeceased by her devoted husband of 40 years, Roger “Dick” Zeigler who died in November of 1983.
She was born May 18, 1919 in Spencerville OH, the daughter of Dr. Charles J. and Forrest Coil Griffin. After the untimely death of Bonnie’s mother at age 29, Dr Griffin moved his three young children to Springfield OH.
Bonnie attended Springfield City Schools graduating from Springfield High School in 1938. In 1943 she married the love of her life, Roger “Dick” Zeigler.  While he was serving in World War II in Europe, she supported the war effort working in a factory.  They along with many of their peers are part of the “Greatest Generation” instilling values such as hard work and integrity in the raising of their two children, Craig Allan Zeigler and Claudia Anne Robinson.
A consummate mother and homemaker, Bonnie was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Of special note was her enthusiasm in baking birthday cakes for her 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Bonnie loved good food and socializing, playing bridge and was a member of the Junior Mother’s Club. She had a wonderful smile that could light up a room. She was an avid Cincinnati Red’s fan and cheered for Ohio State football teams.  She attended the famous “Snow Bowl” game in 1950 between Michigan and Ohio State. Go Bucks!
Bonnie had an unwavering faith in God, and was a member of the Wilmington United Methodist Church for many years.  While residing in Cape May she regularly attended vespers.
Bonnie is survived by one son Craig (Ceci) Zeigler of Wilmington OH; one daughter Claudia (Bob) Robinson of Westerville OH; five grandchildren Angie (Tommy) Lee of Westerville OH; Lance (Karla) Robinson of Chicago IL; Kim (Nick) Giancola of Oakwood OH; Phil (Mindy) Zeigler of Wilmington OH; Doug (Carrie) Zeigler of Clarksville OH; twelve great grand children Ella, Preston, Brennen and Griffin Zeigler; Emma and Sophia Giancola; Jillian Zeigler; Cole and Brody Lee; Lila, Noah and Dylan Robinson; three step grand children Heather (Chris) Casey, Megan (John) Greely, and Brittney Hamilton; one sister, Rosemary Weiss, of Dove Canyon CA; one brother Tom Griffin of Park City UT; one sister in law Carol (George) Griffin of Springfield OH.  Bonnie is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her brother George (Carol) Griffin; brother in law Larry (Rosemary) Weiss and sister in law Velma Folck. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Cape May for their years of tender care towards Bonnie.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 27, 2013 from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 2415 Wayne Road (St Route 73). A funeral service celebrating her life will be held immediately following the visitation with Pastor Dan Mayo officiating. Burial will be at the Enon Cemetery in Enon OH. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Cape May Life Care Fund. The Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home is serving the family.
